Thinking
of attending a Renaissance Greater Phila. Chapter Meeting for the
first time? Come on out and DO it! If you have trouble finding us
the phone is answered from 6:30 onward on meeting nights (610-975-9119),
and there's always someone there to guide you into port. When
you get there, you'll see it's in a secluded area with a lot of
parking available. (See photos to the right.) If you're so inclined,
wait in your car and watch the front door till your heart stops pounding,
but please, eventually come in. Our meetings are composed mainly
of MtF crossdressers and transsexuals, with a smattering of signifigant
others, spouses, support and friends, but we are open to all who
seek more info about themselves, or the transgender community, or
any unique shade of grey you happen to be on the gender or sexual
spectrum. We do not discriminate. We are there to give you whatever
you came for, or in the least, point you in a direction to explore
if you are not sure what you hope to find. With that many people
at a meeting, a main program of interest to the trans community,
a newcomer's orientation meeting at 9, and a buffet, you gotta leave
with something... even if it's only a slice of bread. Chances are
you'll bring home more than that. Most of the meeting is social and
we are gifted with a comfortable, safe meeting space with room to
circulate and work. By day they are doctors' offices. Your first
visit is free, after that we'll ask you for $10 at the door to defray
the costs of rent, food, and outreach projects. If you choose to
become a GPC member, that'll cost you $20 for the year, and only
$5 a visit. Significant others are always free. Since we are volunteer-run,
any skills you have to offer to set up a meeting or put it away,
and the homework in between, are always appreciated, plus it's a
good way to establish new friendships and meet the people who have
been out and about for a while.
